Eric Vaarzon Morel
Eric Vaarzon Morel (1961) met the great flamenco guitarist Paco Pe?a during the "Rencontres de la Guitare" in France and followed him around for a while. He moved to Spain where he lived and worked for some years until he joined the group Flamencos en route with whom he travelled throughout Europe. For six years he was a member of the group Cuadro Flamenco. He now writes and performs his own flamenco compositions together with his band Chanela. He gave recitals at international festivals in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Iceland, the Dutch Antilles and Turkey. In 1992 he released the CD "Flamenco de Hoy". He composed music for a theatre production written by Abdelkader Benali, toured with the great Turkish kanun player Tahir Aydogdu and with the group Five Great Guitars (together with Jan Akkerman). He teaches flamenco guitar at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam.
