Judith Sijp
Singer/songwriter and cellist Judith Sijp has worked intensively with renowned artists such as Robert Jan Stips, Hans Liberg and the band Flairck.
In March 2001 she released her first solo-album 'Open', on which she has recorded, performed and produced 13 of her own songs.
In April 2001 she started working with the Finnish violinist and singer Mirella Pirskanen.
They played various gigs and in June 2002 they reached the finals of the singer/songwriter competition 'Mooie Noten'. The jury, consisting of internationally acclaimed artists such as Fay Lovsky and A and R manager Flip van de Ende, found Sijp's compositions and arrangements to be highly original and melodic.
In March 2002 she started the band SYPE with Alan McLachlan (Sjako!, The Scene) on guitar , Emilie Blom van Assendelft (The Scene) on electric bass, Edwin Zandhuis on drums and Mirella Pirskanen (Flairck, Holiday on Ice) on violin, singing also the backing vocals .
In June 2002 they recorded a demo in theatre 't Spant in Bussum which was released in January of 2003.
After a period of reflection Judith is now rehearsing with a new band line-up, with Mira Roos (Flairck, Mathilde Santing a.o.) on violin, Edwin Zandhuis on drums and a new bass player. She?s also taking additional singing lessons with Simone Roerade.
